Tradjenta is a diabetes medication that contains linagliptin and is used to control your blood sugar levels. Tradjenta is a type 2 diabetes medication and should not be used to treat type 1 diabetes. Tradjenta works by regulating the levels of insulin that is produced by your body after you eat. Tradjenta should be taken as part of a treatment plan which may also include exercise or diet.

If you have any of the following linagliptin side effects, seek medical help:

• Pancreatitis symptoms including nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fast heartbeat or a pain in your upper stomach which spreads to your back.
• Ongoing or severe joint pain.
• Signs of a severe autoimmune reaction including blisters, itching or a breakdown to your outer skin.
• Heart failure symptoms including rapid weight gain, shortness of breath or swelling in your feet or legs.
• Signs of a severe skin reaction including sore throat, fever, face or tongue swelling, burning in your eyes or skin pain which is followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads especially to your face or upper body and causes blistering and peeling.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction including difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Tradjenta?

If you miss a dose of Tradjenta, you should take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
